Are You Living Small?

Are You Living Small?

What do you believe to be possible for your life? What do you believe to be your potential? What’s the difference between pushing yourself too far and for unhealthy reasons (ex: feeling like you’re not “enough”) vs. pushing yourself in an effort to continue to grow and be your best?

Are you “living small”, wasting away your potential and living in mediocrity? How might you know if this is true for you? Ask yourself: Are you bored with life? Do you feel unfulfilled?

In a world where so much is “free”…information, opportunities to learn, trying new things, interests you can dive into, its hard to understand how one can ever be “bored.”

So what can you do?

1-Start by researching general topics you’re interested in. Not sure what you’re interested in? Just start researching random topics that come to mind and see if something captures your attention.

2-Once you find a few topics of interest, brainstorm on what you might be able to do in that space. For example, let’s say you decide you’d like to learn more about the arts or coding or fixing cars. In your brainstorm, one possible opportunity might be reaching out to local schools and offering to teach/mentor students in this area as a volunteer once you’re well versed. Now you have a motivation to learn, and giving back always feels good.

3-Next, you may choose to review your brainstorm list with a few friends/advisors to get their feedback.

4-Once you have a sense of feasible next steps on any of your topics, DO SOMETHING. Start somewhere. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be huge. Just do something, so you can leverage the effort and learnings to build on further.

So, the next time you find yourself “living small,” come back to this list and you have a ready action plan to change that!
